Northwest Community Hospital

NCH looked to us for a way to display portraits of their Medical Executive Committee, and it’s Board of Directors in a prominent location so that patients and visitors, upon entering the hospital, could see who was responsible for their medical care while at NCH. Once the concept and budget had been approved, we scheduled our own photographer to set up on site to coordinate with a previously scheduled Board of Directors meeting so that we could capture every portrait with minimal inconvenience to the executives. It was important that every portrait was taken in front of the same back drop, with identical lighting and crops. After final edits, each approved portrait handsomely represented each individual but with a consistent and harmonious presentation. Each was then printed to the back side of acrylic, complete with names and titles, then drilled for mounting with brushed nickel standoffs to coordinate with existing millwork trim details. Dimensional letters above, plus a separate printed panel telling viewers who this group was and their relevance to the hospital, completed the display. Our installers securely mounted this assembly into existing millwork making certain that panels could be replaced annually or as needed to reflect changes in the BOD and MEC.

Similarly, we were contacted by CDH to develop a way to pay homage to its hospitals 50 years of past presidents. The site identified to showcase this display was a curved wall located within the administrative suite of the hospital.

Our task was to create something “artistic,” so we developed a away to utilize a DNA double helix as a support for the portraits; the DNA helix was  introduced partially as a subtle reference to the hospital’s commitment to medical research, but also to provide continuity to these varied portraits taken over the past 50 years, all with different crops, lighting and backdrops. The two strands of DNA ribbon were then custom painted to match the branded hospital colors. Once our design was approved, this assembly was fabricated and installed by the hospital’s signage vendor.
