Rush Transformation : First Impressions

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Rush University Medical Center’s East Tower is nearing completion and preparing for patient occupancy in January.

As art consultant for the Rush Transformation, our first task was to create a first impression for the new front door and gateway to the East Patient Tower. This 31 panel installation needed to act as art, graphics and signage, while visually connecting to the 1400 pieces of framed art we selected and installed throughout the 14 floor structure.

In order to achieve the resolution necessary to print the 30′ x 20′ graphic, our photographer captured 63 separate shots from the vantage point of the hospital, then digitally combined them to create the impressive cityscape featured.

Complementing this installation is a series of acrylic panels, matched to Rush’s branded green, interspersed with etched and hand carved glass panels of prairie grass, which come to life when edge-lit from below.

Urban and organic imagery combine harmoniously, both reinforcing Rush’s brand image and creating a healing arts program which celebrates the rich diversity and culture of the neighborhoods which the hospital services.

Invest two minutes to watch this time-lapsed footage of our team’s 30 hour installation in the Brennan Pavilion.

H. Marion Framing Studio
Gives Back to Local Community

WILMETTE, IL  —  The stars of the most recent gallery opening at H. Marion Framing Studio were student artists from Avoca School District 37′s Marie Murphy Junior High School. Gallery owner Jan Marion, an alum of the district, hosted the event in an effort to give back to the community.

“Fostering art appreciation among schoolchildren is vital,” Marion, who supports local artists of all ages, says. “There is a strong link between kids who make art and their level of focus and success later in life. It’s also a great way to give back to the community.” (more…)

H. Marion Framing Reaches Out To Creative Talent Of Local Junior High School

H. Marion Framing Studio, the North Shore’s premier art consulting and framing business, is hosting an art exhibition at its Wilmette location in the Edens Plaza Shopping Center for one night only on Thursday, March 12, 2009, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. But the artists there can’t stay too long: they’ve got homework.

More than 80 Marie Murphy Junior High students from the Avoca School District No. 37 will have an exciting opportunity to bring their artwork from the classroom to the showroom for all the public to view. Community members are invited to stop in the store and peruse this eclectic, original collection.

“This is a great way to give back to the community,” says gallery co-owner Jan Marion, who opened the chain’s second location in late fall ’08. “The kids are the real stars of the show.”

Jan Marion and his creative team of art consultants are known for giving back to the local community. In today’s scholastic world, where gym and art are typically the first programs cut from a budget, Marion realizes it’s more important than ever to foster art appreciation among schoolchildren.
