PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: ABC NEWS FEATURES H. MARION ART CONSULTANTS’ LDR DESIGN
Monday, January 16th, 2012ABC News highlighted H. Marion’s holistic design approach for two recent projects; St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison and Saint Joseph Hospital’s Family Birthplace in Chicago. For each project our design team selected a range of artworks and color palettes that provided a more restful, spa-like atmosphere for patients. The resulting rooms in both hospitals have a level of comfort normally ascribed to hotels rather than hospitals.
Owner Jan Marion was interview by Susanna Kim for the article and spoke about the trend towards spa-like healthcare design: ”Hospitals recognize that not only is artwork a necessary part of interior finish, but they also understand that it’s a marketing expense,” Marion said. “A new family makes healthcare decisions that will have long lasting impact on a healthcare provider.”
In the article ABC News examines both the health and marketshare advantanges of spa-inpired design trends in the industry as a whole.

H. Marion Art Consulting Services of Glenview, Northbrook and Wilmette, an art consultancy specializing in art installations for health care facilities, has just been awarded a major art project for Rush University Medical Center’s new hospital building, the East Tower, set for occupancy in early 2012. The project includes art consulting, procurement, fabrication, delivery and installation of framed artwork throughout the prestigious medical center’s new 841,00 sq foot, 14-story health care facility, currently under construction at Ashland Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago. The complete project will involve an anticipated 1,400 pieces of framed, healing artwork, that will adorn the walls of the building.

Sometimes the difference between a stressful and acceptable hospital stay is the simple matter of the right art being on the walls.
